Dr. John L. Eckenrode graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He served as chief resident at St. John Hospital in Detroit and finished his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Following training, he helped found a multi-physician practice in hematology and oncology in Dearborn, Michigan and practiced in the Oakwood Hospital System. He served as Associate Director of the weekly Gastrointestinal Oncology Tumor Board and presented cases weekly in the Thoracic Tumor Board and Breast Cancer Tumor Board. Dr. Eckenrode established and directed the Oakwood-Annapolis Hospital Infusion Center in Wayne, Michigan and served on numerous committees including Chairman Quality Assurance for Oncology within the Oakwood Hospital System.

Dr. Eckenrode was the Director for Hospice of Michigan and then Odyssey Hospice in Detroit. He served on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Eckenrode joined Oklahoma Oncology in 2007.
